By state law, the Planning Commission must conduct a 5 year review of the Parks and Recreation Plan for the township. At that time, they may also amend/revise/update the plan. The Zoning Ordinance was adopted in 2006 and has had several amendments adopted since that time. The document posted below is current through amendments adopted in April 2017.
Also posted below, is a flowchart showing the process different development types must go through to gain approval from the Township. Please also be aware that there are fees and costs for the different types of requests that can be made to Laketon Township. A chart of fees, as adopted by the Laketon Township Board is posted below.

Zoning Compliance Permits
A Zoning Compliance Permit is required for the a variety of projects, below is a list of the most common. Please call the Zoning Administrator at Laketon Township prior to beginning any project to ensure you are in compliance with all regulations, have all the necessary approvals and are applying for the correct permit.
- Fence(s) (some fencing types and locations do not require - please call)
- Moving of structure(s)
- Private Street(s)
- Accessory Building (less than 200 sq ft in area)
- Filling of Land (more than one (1) acre in area)
- Development in Floodplain area(s)
- Satellite dish (more than one (1) meter in diameter)

Land Division, Boundary Adjustments or Land Combinations
If anyone wants to divide or split parcels, change the boundaries of parcels or combine parcels, there is an application process. It is highly recommended to call and speak with the Zoning Administrator, prior to engaging in any of these processes to be advised of the State Land Division laws as well as Laketon Township Zoning Ordinance regulations that may apply and affect the decision to divide,combine or adjust parcel boundaries.
