Organizations at the Local Level

  • Muskegon Conservation District - Click this link to visit their website.  The Muskegon Conservation District has been the local resouce for natural resources since 1938 and offers a variety of programs, including tree/plant seedling sales, sales of rain barrels & compost bins and podcasts.
  • You Dump It, You Drink It Campaign - to educate the public on the dangers of the improper disposal of used motor oil and offer solutions for the proper recycling of motor oil. 
  • Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership - A community-based, volunteer partnership organization, meets monthly and supports grassroots, local, state, regional, federal and international programs to restore Muskegon Lake and the Great Lakes.

  • Muskegon River Watershed Assembly - The Muskegon River Watershed Assembly is dedicated to the preservation, protection, restoration, and sustainable use of the Muskegon River, the land it drains, and the life it supports, through educational, scientific and conservation initiatives.

 

Organizations at the State or National Level
  • West Michigan Trails and Greenways Coalition - Our purpose continues to be that of addressing the regional trails network. We are committed to developing a non-motorized, linked-trail system that serves to connect community-to-community, city-to-countryside; A trail network that helps protect habitats and natural areas, and provides alternative transportation options to reach the parks, historic landmarks, cultural sites, and civic destinations throughout West Michigan. We believe that by connecting our communities and rural areas, we can reconnect with each other, and build something sustainable for future generations to enjoy.
  • Michigan Trails & Greenways Alliance - Located in Old Town Lansing, we continue to foster and facilitate the creation of an interconnected statewide system of trails and greenways for environmental and cultural preservation purposes.  We work at both the state and local levels by assisting public and private interest in trails and greenways planning, funding, development and maintenance.  We work to build public support for trails and greenways development through events, membership, education, information and advocacy activities.
  • Rails to Trails Conservancy - Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors to build healthier places for healthier people.
